Panasonic DVD - RAM / DVD - R Recorder Model DMR - E60

Introduction
DVD recorder are not new however they have been to expensive for most consumer to own. Panasonic and other companies like Sony are coming up with DVD recorders that connect directly to your television and a cable system. What more you can now save your holidays that where taken through a video recorder and burn them onto a DVD disc for a permanent recorded and more durable form of storage. Panasonic offers the consumer more than one DVD recorder. They have DVD recorders that contain within them a hard drive so that you can play from the hard drive and burn to the DVD disc later. Other models act and replace your VHS recorder with the capability of recording programs onto a DVD-RAM disc directly. The advantage here is that you can write over the DVD RAM disc up to one thousand times before replacing them. The Panasonic DVD - RAM / DVD - R Recorder
Model DMR - E60
has no hard drive and records directly from the source.

A Good Idea

The Panasonic DVD - RAM / DVD - R Recorder Model DMR - E60 also will play commercial DVD movies and musical DVDs as well. If you are thinking about recording from your VCR to a DVD recorder you will be out of luck in trying. Your VCR records with an analog signal and the DVD records with a digital signal and so makes the two incompatible. So if you try and record a DVD movie that you have rented from your favorite movie rental, play it off your computer to the Panasonic or any DVD desk to model it will be blocked due to on board electronics as well.

Still a great idea if you are looking for exceptional looking picture and sound quality over a VCR recorder. The recording from the DVD-RAM recorder is only as good as the source that is sending it. For the time being general signals sent by cable or antenna will be recorded with less picture and sound quality. Digital cable and satellite will offer batter picture and possible 5.1 sound over conventional stereo sound.

The Future
The idea is to have the majority of television users watching wide screen programing by the year 2007. Many or all of the present broad casters will offer digital video and stereo to 5.1 or AC3 sources of sound. The VCR will likely be phased out and will function to play movies recorded in that media. The future as we have seen is moving towards using DVD discs to play video, and music sources.
