Introduction

The first all in one office that I'm aware of was introduced by Hewlett Packard. Their patented technology found in the deskjet series has provided to produce a quality looking and printing image on plain paper, and a excellant print on photo paper. With this technology Hewlett Packard was able to easily introduce a system that would take up little space in a home office, or small office. This system would be able to complete multi - functions with in one machine. The term "Home Office" or "All - in - One" machine fit the description perfectly. A machine that was capable of printing in color or black and white, coping, scanning, and could fax as well.

The HP PSC 950 All-in-one is a flat bed unit, which means that there is a move versatile surface. Some all in one units use a roller system where a single sheet of paper must pass between two rollers. This does not allow for open book type scans to be performed like you can do with this model.

All photo copiers use a scan like mechanism. This image is converted to a dpi or resolution. This resolution is also known as the quality print out putted onto image paper. With similar technologies it only makes sense to corporate the three units: printer, copier, and scanner into one. This unit can be used as a stand alone or can be hooked up to a Macintosh or PC computer.

Hewlett Packard was first to introduce a printer which would except a flash card directly from a digital camera and print quality photographic images. The versatile of the HP PSC 950 All-in-one does print photos directly from your digital camera memory card and will except either a CompactFlash, SmartMedia and Sony
Memory Stick.
